The Opportunity
To become a key leader within Group Finance, responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Group's financial reporting, statutory compliance and financial control framework whilst supporting the Group Finance Manager in delivering the Company's long-term strategic ambitions.
The successful candidate will provide strong technical leadership across a growing multi-entity organisation, ensuring financial information is accurate, timely and robust whilst continuously improving systems, controls and processes. Working closely with the Group Finance Manager, CEO and Board of Directors, they will play a pivotal role in supporting the Group's continued expansion through sound financial governance, technical expertise and commercial insight.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring an individual who is equally comfortable delivering technical accounting excellence whilst supporting strategic business decisions and leading the ongoing development of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strong financial leadership across the Indevor Group, ensuring robust financial control, statutory compliance and the integrity of financial reporting across all Group entities.
Work closely and in alignment with the Group Finance Manager, Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors to support the continued growth and strategic development of the Group.
Maintain and continuously improve the Group's financial control environment, ensuring processes, systems and governance remain scalable as the business expands.
Provide technical accounting expertise and commercial financial support across multiple business units, acting as the operational foundation of Group Finance.
Develop, mentor and support members of the finance team, creating a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and professional development.
Ensure the Group remains fully compliant with all statutory, regulatory and taxation requirements.
Contribute towards strategic projects, acquisitions, business growth initiatives and continuous operational improvement across the Group.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Lead the Group month-end close process, ensuring accurate consolidation and timely financial reporting across all legal entities.
Prepare, review and maintain accurate management accounts, statutory accounts and Group financial reporting.
Maintain strong balance sheet control, ensuring reconciliations, reviews and supporting schedules are completed accurately and on time.
Manage all intercompany accounting, including reconciliations, recharges, agreements and eliminations across the Group.
Prepare Group cash flow reporting, balance sheet forecasts and support wider financial planning activities.
Lead the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate the annual external audit process across all Group companies.
Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisers, banks, HMRC and other professional advisers.
Ensure ongoing compliance with UK accounting standards, Companies Act requirements, taxation legislation and internal financial policies.
Support the establishment of new Group entities, ensuring appropriate accounting structures, financial controls and reporting processes are implemented from inception.
Continuously review, improve and standardise financial systems, controls and processes to support the Group's continued growth.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring and day-to-day support to Management Accountants, apprentices and junior finance colleagues.
Prepare financial analysis, reports and technical information to support the Group Finance Manager, Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors in strategic decision making.
Support acquisitions, business growth initiatives, restructuring projects, funding activities and due diligence exercises where applicable.
Maintain accurate financial records whilst ensuring the integrity of the Group's finance systems and internal controls.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will already be operating as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager within a multi-entity organisation and possess strong technical accounting expertise together with proven experience of leading financial control across a growing business.
They will have extensive experience in financial reporting, statutory accounts, consolidations, audit management and financial governance, whilst also demonstrating the commercial awareness required to support strategic business decisions.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at Board level whilst remaining hands-on in the day-to-day operation of the finance function. They will enjoy working within an ambitious, fast-paced environment and be motivated by the opportunity to help build and strengthen a growing Group through robust financial leadership, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
They will naturally lead by example, developing those around them whilst continually seeking opportunities to improve processes, systems and financial controls across the organisation.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience operating within a multi-entity Group structure.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP and statutory reporting.
Experience leading Group consolidations, audits and financial compliance.
Strong understanding of intercompany accounting, taxation and financial governance.
Experience implementing or improving finance systems, controls and business processes.
Comfortable supporting business acquisitions, restructures and organisational growth.
Previous experience within the construction, property, infrastructure or professional services sectors would be advantageous.
Commercially minded with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insight.
Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities.
Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Calm, credible and confident communicating with senior stakeholders and the Board of Directors.
Ambitious, proactive and motivated by helping build a high-performing finance function capable of supporting the Group's long-term growth strategy.
